Roof Boxes - By Width
The width of the roof box is an important consideration as it will dictate what you can (or can't!) fit next to the box on your racks e.g. a kayak, or bike(s).
You should also consider the length of the box e.g. if you want to carry a pair of skis, you must check the internal length on the product page (under Specifications).
We've categorised our roof box range by (1) Full Width (2) Medium Width and (3) Narrow:
900mm wide and over
For those that want to carry as much as possible in their box and aren't looking to carry anything else on the roof.
701mm to 899mm wide.
Should allow you to carry something next to the box - providing that you have "Thru Bars".
Note that "Flush Bars" look neat but reduce the amount of usable bar length.
700mm or less.
Popular with people that are trying to fit as much next to the box as possible.
What you lose in box capacity, you gain in roof bar space i.e. potentially another bike rack or kayak.
Roof Boxes - By Size
Roof boxes are a great way to increase the packing capacity of your car. They can make all the difference between a cramped, stressful drive - and a relaxed spacious journey. Once you own one, you'll wonder how you travelled without it!
But with all the different types of roof box sizes, how do you know the best fit your car? And how can you make sure it will fit all the things you want to pack?
To help you, we've categorised our roof box range by volume into the following sizes
Under 350 litre roof boxes.
Ideal for very small cars, or people that don't have much to carry.
350 to 399 litres
Popular on small or medium cars, or on a platform. Probably not big enough for a family with kids - but it depends!
400 to 499 litres.
This is the most popular size and it suits most cars and families i.e. not too big / not too small.
500 to 599 litres.
These boxes are pretty big and will look odd on smaller vehicles.
At this size you should consider (1) tailgate clearance and (2) where are you going to store it when not in use?
600 litres +
This is as big as it gets! Ideal for those that simply need to carry as much as possible.

Low Profile are a special range of boxes for those that need to keep the overall height of the vehicle as low as possible e.g. to fit in a low garage or to reduce drag.
Note that you dramatically reduce the overall volume and usuable loading space by opting for low profile i.e. a suitcase might not fit.
Cargo Baskets
Cargo baskets are ideal for transporting gear of all shapes and sizes. Versatile and value for money, they're a really handy thing to own. However, they offer less protection and security than a roof box.
A safe and strong basket shaped design. Usually come with additional features like wind fairings, accessory bars and easy attachments to roof racks.
A flat base without any sides, so could be a better option for longer / wider items that might not fit in a basket.

Cargo bags are fitted securely to baskets or platforms and provide your gear with extra protection. We stock a variety of brands and sizes to suit whatever you're looking to carry.
Rear Mounted Carriers
A rear mounted carrier attaches to a tow ball or hitch and is a great option to carry extra cargo if:
- Your car's roof is already in use e.g. with a roof tent
- The roof of your vehicle has a low load rating (check your owner's manual or speak to one of our experts)
- It's a tall vehicle (or you're a small person), so reaching that high will be an issue
- You can't add any extra height to your vehicle
- Fuel consumption / range is important to you e.g. you own an electric vehicle
