This addition to the Rockymounts lineup represents one of the best they have produced in our opinion, with a sleek, modern, and chunky design, a high weight capacity, and a brilliant bike mounting system, the GuideRail is a great choice for anyone looking for a premium bike carrier.
Rockymounts have strived to reduce the use of plastics throughout this model, making it a little heavier but definitely more durable than many other carriers.
The total weight capacity of the carrier is 54kg, so in standard two bike carrier form each platform can carry a 27kg bike, making it suitable for e-bikes. The Guiderail has a two bike capacity which can be expanded to three bikes using an add-on, note that weight capacity of each bike is reduced to 20kg when using the add-on though.
Your bikes are secured via two arm clamps which latch onto both the front wheel and rear wheel of your bike, making it a rock solid mounting. This also means that unusual frames and frames with delicate finishes such as carbon can be accommodated. The platforms are also adjustable which allows asymmetric loading to ensure no bike to bike interference while underway.
A wide range of bike sizes can be carried too, the wheel clamps can be adjusted to fit kids bikes with 20in diameter wheels right up to full size 29in wheels, max tire width is 3in so fat bikes can't be carried as standard. Carrying bikes with wheelbases ranging from 91cm up to 139cm is possible with this carrier, making it very versatile. One limitation to bear in mind though is that it's not suitable for use with bikes that have fenders, so either you have to remove them before use or not use it with fender equipped bikes.
For security, this carrier has locks to secure the carrier to your hitch and also a heavy weight chain lock to secure your bikes to your carrier, so you can go and enjoy a coffee with your bikes loaded and not have to worry about them still being there when you come back.
Access to the rear of your vehicle hasn't been forgotten either, the Guiderail features a 30 degree tilt mechanism, which can be used with your bikes loaded, providing ample room to allow you to get any extra gear you may need from your hatch or boot.
To ensure no wobble while you're driving Rockymounts has integrated their premium 3 axis anti wobble system so the carrier is unshaken no matter what the road conditions are like.
Fitting the Guiderail is straightforward task, however due to its hefty weight of 22kg we recommend having a friend help you install it to your hitch to save your back. Note that the model we stock is designed for standard 2in hitch receivers. For more information on fitting please refer to the instructions.
For safety and legal compliance it's recommended to use a lightboard with your rear mounted bike carrier, the Rockymounts LED licence plate holder is a great option but you'll need the Guiderail LED lightboard bracket kit for a perfect fit, sold separately.
It's also backed by the fantastic RockyMounts lifetime warranty, so rest assured you'll have years of trouble-free use.
Please check your hitch rating and local state laws before using this carrier.
