  Kuat NV Base 2.0 Black 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Carrier (BA22B) <p>Kuat pride themselves on building some of the best bike carriers available in the world. They use precise construction techniques and highest quality materials to make their racks, and offer a lifetime warranty on all their products, this speaks volumes as far as we're concerned. </p> <p>The NV is Kuat's top of the range bike carrier, their goal when building this rack was to make the ultimate hitch mounted bike carrier, and it shows. The NV Base has all the same features as the top of the range NV with the exception of the Trail Doc integrated bike repair stand, although it lacks this innovative feature it is still a brilliant bike rack. Another difference between the Base model vs the top of the line is in the finish, with the Base featuring an ultra durable black powder coat finish rather than the metallic gloss.</p> <p>Built to carry two bikes out of the box it can also be expanded with either the <a href="https://www.roofracksgalore.com.au/kuat-nv-base-2-0-black-2-bike-add-on-extension-bao2b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kuat NV Base 2 Bike Add-On</a> or the <a href="https://www.roofracksgalore.com.au/kuat-nv-base-2-0-black-1-bike-add-on-extension-bao1b" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kuat NV Base 1 Bike Add-On</a> depending on your needs.</p> <p>This is a hitch mounted rack which will fit 2in (50mm) size hitches and has a carrying capacity of two bikes with a weight of up to 27kg for each bike. This ample weight allowance makes it suitable for even the heaviest bikes, including most e-bikes. It's very versatile also as it can fit bikes of any frame design as it secures your bike via the front wheel and it's able to accommodate bikes with wheel diameters of between 25in and 29in. However, for 20in to 24in diameter wheels the use of an adapter is required part #016-025-00-00 (one is included with the bike carrier though). The maximum wheelbase allowable is up to 50in (127cm) and maximum tire width is 3in (7.6cm) but this can be expanded to 5in (12.7cm) with an adapter part # APBK, sold separately.</p> <p>Built to be strong as an ox so it can handle rough terrain and heavy bikes, however the carrier weighs a hefty 23.5kg due to the need for reinforced and stronger materials. The NV Base rack has a durable and beautiful semi gloss black finish, which looks almost as nice as the NV's metallic finish.</p> <p>With a foot lever operated folding feature so it can either sit flat against the back of your vehicle in an upright position when not in use, or easily lowered into the horizontal position, ready to load your bikes. Plus it has the ability to tilt the carrier down when loaded to allow easy access to the rear of your vehicle.</p> <p>It's suitable for carbon framed bikes too as there is no frame contact when mounting your bike to this carrier, and the wheel clamp is adjustable for various wheels sizes. For bike security this carrier includes a fully integrated lock system which consists of a cable lock which comes out of the carrier itself with a lock built into the cable. The rear wheel cradles have a co-moulded wheel strap for better wheel finish protection.</p> <p>At times you may run into an issue with two bikes that don't want to fit well together on any bike carrier, the NV solves this problem with adjustable height wheel cradles so you can find the right position for any bike combo to ensure no bike to bike contact while underway. </p> <p>Fitting the carrier is a tool free operation with a hand-tight hitch cam system, for more details on installation please refer to the instructions.</p> <p>Please check your hitch rating and local state laws before using this carrier.
